About Us

Welcome!  My name is Dr Cathy Betoin.  I am a practising clinical psychologist an experienced teacher and a parent.   The Friends of Relationship Health Practice Network was set up following the publication of Relationship Health for Professionals and Parents: The Missing link in Children's Wellbeing.  This book sets out my concern that there is a need to rethink practices in health and education and social care with children and families, with a view to putting the ideas of Relationship Health a much more central position.  Our base is in the Kendal and Morecambe Bay area, where we are supported by GP's and schools in the Kendal Integrated Care Community

We are learning about how to build face to face and online learning opportunities that make it easier for professionals and parents and carers to access the training and support that they need to improve adult-child relationship health in home, school and community settings

The membership of the Relationship health Practice network is for professionals of all disciplines and concerned parents.   It offers a

i) Free membership of this community

ii) Paid membership of the Friends of Relationship Health Practice Community

iii) Opportunities to join other training including I Matter Framework training

PLEASE NOTE this network does not provide any direct coaching or support for individual situations.  Members should not post any material that identifies others; whether children or adults   We aim simply to help you identify others with similar interests or in your locality

Why You Should Join Us

The key benefit of joining the Friends of Relationship Health Practice Network is that this is a multidisciplinary network - away from Facebook or Linked In - where you can identify others with shared professional and parenting interests and concerns.  You can feel part of a process of supporting others and gaining support yourself with our mission to make a real impact on adult-child relationship health in your role by supporting locality based team work.   We focus on helping you take forward initiatives based on the principles set out in the articles in the Relationship Health For Professionals and Parents book. We promote:

+ improving of adult-child relationship health based on strong adult insight and skills

+ embedding understanding about social-emotional development and how relationship skills emerge - in schools and community practice

+ building supportive communities that support skills development as illustrated by the structure of the I Matter Community Wheel.

+ the Relationship Health Practice network is a place to get to know others in your own community and further afield and with varied special interests.

+ This network is intended to help you find others in your locality who are working to develop a community based network and a local community wheel

As a member you will have anytime access to:

+ a community of professionals and experienced parents-carers who are exploring how to progress Relationship Health Practice and to improve child and adult wellbeing

+ opportunities to share your successes and gain encouragement
